In The Hobbit when Bilbo Baggins (the hobbit), the thirteen dwarves and Gandalf (the wizard) come to a small town called Lake Town an experienced archer found them and that archer was called Brad. Brad brought them to the master, who was leader of the town, because the dwarves wanted weapons and permission to go to the Lonely Mountain to battle and kill Smaug the dragon. When the dwarves asked the master this question he was shocked that someone would want to go to the Lonely Mountain. The master thought about this and he said they may go, the master didn’t really care until Smaug awakened and went to the town to destroy it. Brad was one of the greatest archers that were in the town and loved everyone in it. When the elves who followed the hobbit, the dwarves and Gandalf to the town came Brad fell in love with one of the elvish warriors and her name was Tauriel. His love for Tauriel nearly killed him because he saw that she was attacked and scratched by Smaug and then he shoot an illegal arrow that he made himself that was called the black arrow right into Smaug heart and killed him. However when Smaug was shoot out of the sky he came crashing down infecting and nearly killing Brad because of the poison that came from Smaug’s blood which caused a sickness called the dragons sickness. Smaug also crashed into the river filling it with blood killing many soldiers, citizens and even the master. The river the blood in the river went away after a few hours and still many are suffering with the sickness but one person was cured from the sickness and that person was Brad. Tauriel had only a small amount of holy water an used it to save Brad’s life. Brad became the master and rebuilt the town again with the help of Tauriel. Brad nearly killed himself because of his love for Tauriel and if Tauriel wasn’t there he would have suffered like the rest and died but with Tauriel’s help the town didn’t have to worry about the dragon sickness.
